🏀 BUT FIRST…

Before next week’s exhibition with Notre Dame, Butler fans will have a chance to get a sneak peek at our ‘Dawgs.

As part of Butler University's Family Weekend, the Butler hoops programs are hosting an open practice TOMORROW! The event will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a scheduled conclusion at approximately 12:15 p.m.

Both teams will be on display, featuring blue-white scrimmages as a portion of each practice. Fans will also have the opportunity to interact with student-athletes from both teams after the open practice for autographs and photos.

The event is free and open to the public but fans are encouraged to download a ticket to the open practice through the Butler Sports App. Those fans will be eligible for drawings throughout the event for Butler prizes such as tickets and apparel.

🔼 Home Sweet Home. This weekend, the pride of the Butler family will be on full display as the ‘Dawgs enjoy Parents and Family weekend on campus.

There will be plenty to cheer on with five different events on the docket, including the basketball open practice.

Returning to Hinkle for the first time in over a month, the volleyball squad is set to host Providence (tonight at 7 pm) and UConn (Saturday at 5 pm) in BIG EAST showdowns.

The football team kicks things off at the Sellick Bowl in an BIG TIME PFL showdown with Presbyterian. Kick off is set for 1 p.m.

Finally, the men’s soccer team looks to extend its win streak to three games when they battle Marquette at Varsity Field at 2 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.

🔼 Dominating Dodd. After a record-setting performance at the Bradley Coyote Creek Classic, Treva Dodd not only won medalist honors at the event, but was also named the BIG EAST Golfer of the Week.

Dodd's effort also led the Bulldogs to the team title.

Dodd's three-under 213 performance matches the program record relative to par for a 54-hole event, something she also accomplished last season at the 2024 Redbird Fall Invitational and Abigail Gleixner's 2016 Redbird Fall Invitational scorecard.

🔼 The Inside Scoop. Grant Leiendecker, vice president and director of athletics at Butler University, joined host Dave Neff to talk about his Fort Wayne roots, playing basketball at Butler, and being part of the Bulldogs' 2010 and 2011 Final Four runs.

He reflects on relationships with mentors like Brad Stevens and Barry Collier, his path through an NCAA postgraduate internship, UNC's Rams Club, and leading fundraising at Marquette before returning to Butler in 2023. Leiendecker explains how the AD role is changing with NIL, the transfer portal and revenue sharing, and why resource generation is his top priority.

He defines the Butler Way and outlines the Butler Way Society, which has generated more than $9 million in commitments from over 80 families. He also shares personal disciplines as a father of five and career advice for young professionals: say yes early, work hard, stay humble and be patient.
