🔼 Big Willy Style. For the second time this season, Butler's William Zegarski has been named the BIG EAST Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week.

Zegarski turned in another impressive performance against an elite field Friday morning at the Nuttycombe Invitational hosted by Wisconsin. The graduate student placed 19th overall, completing the 8k Thomas Zimmer Championship Course in a time of 23:02.5. The field included 21 ranked teams, including the Bulldogs.

He was also recognized by the conference following Butler's Sept. 19 showing at the John McNichols Invitational.

🔼 Bashin’ Balls. Butler Athletics is proud to announce the third annual Butler Softball "Long Ball Derby" which will take place on Friday, Oct. 30, on Butler's campus.

The Long Ball Derby is a fun and unique way to support the Butler Softball program. Fans can select a desired donation increment (i.e. 25 cents, 50 cents, $1, $2, etc.) as well as a student-athlete, coach or guest hitter.

Each hitter will have 10 at-bats to record their longest ball. Utilizing the Trackman system for optimal accuracy, each hitter's longest ball will then be multiplied by the selected donation increment for a gift in support of the program.

🔼 Second Helpings. The Butler women’s golf team polished off play at the Bronco Fall Classic with a second-place finish. The Bulldogs ended the tournament trailing only host Western Michigan.

Addi Kooi finished third overall, carding a final-round 76 (+4) to finish the event at 221 (+5). Her Monday included rounds of 71 and 74. Rachel Johnson had Butler's best round Tuesday, turning in a scorecard of one-over 73. She finished fourth on the leaderboard at six-over 222 for the 54-hole event.

Kooi and Johnson were joined by a pair of Bulldogs among the Top 10. Both playing as individuals, Kylie Eaton (228; +12) and Ashley Freitas (229; +13) finished seventh and eighth, respectively.

🔼 Top-10 Duo. Logan Sutto and Nicholas Brooks led the way as the Bulldogs tied for seventh at the Purdue Fall Invitational.

Sutto finished eighth in the field at three-under 213, posting three rounds at par or better.

Brooks handed in a scorecard of three-under 69 following Monday's afternoon 18; that was Butler's best individual round of the event. The freshman tied for tenth at 215 (-1). His Tuesday final round included six birdies.

🐶 TEAMING UP

On Friday, Butler Athletics announced an exciting new partnership with Southern Indiana craft icon Quaff ON! Brewing Co. and brand strategy agency Droplight to introduce Butler Way Lager, the official custom-crafted beer of the Butler Bulldogs.

Crafted with the passion and "gusto" that defines Quaff ON!'s hand-crafted Indiana brews, Butler Way Lager is a crisp, approachable craft beer designed specifically for Bulldog fans to enjoy on game day and beyond.

The new custom lager made its official debut this past weekend during Butler's Family Weekend, where fans could purchase it across athletic venues, including iconic historic Hinkle Fieldhouse.
