🔼 First Impressions. Who doesn’t love putting smile on kids’ faces?

That’s what the Butler women’s hoops squad did on Education Day in Monday’s season opener, rolling past Wright State 74-53.

Four Bulldogs recorded double figures in the victory with Lily Zeinstra leading the way with 14 points in the contest. She also added three rebounds and four assists in the win.

Nevaeh Jackson (13), Saniya Jackson (12) and Anna Wypych (11) rounded out the Bulldogs in double figures. Addison Baxter played floor general and led the offense with eight assists on the day to go with six rebounds and six points.

🔼 Opening Act. The women got things rolling first and now it’s the men’s turn.

Tonight, the Butler men’s hoops squad officially opens their 2025-26 regular season when Southern Indiana rolls into Hinkle Fieldhouse for a 7 pm tip.

The ‘Dawgs will square off with their in-state foe for the first time since 1984 and will mark the third of four straight opponents to open the season (two exhibitions and two regular season contests).

In Butlers’ two exhibition contests, Finley Bizjack led the way, pouring in 40 points in a total of 48 minutes, highlighted by eight 3-pointers. He was one of eight different Bulldogs to register double figures in scoring in at least one of the team's two exhibitions.

🔼 Riding The Wave. While some may use the weekends to relax and rest up, the Butler women’s swim team did the exact opposite.

The ‘Dawgs picked up not just one win, but two, defeating Southern Indiana (108-96) and Bellarmine (104-101) over the weekend.

Lydia Eberlein earned the program’s swimmer of the meet honor as her 400 Individual Medley and 200 Breastroke times were very strong performances and close to personal best times.

🔼 Tip Of The Cap. With crunch time upon the Butler volleyball squad, junior Elise Ward stepped up in a big way to keep the ‘Dawgs right in the hunt.

In Butler’s two matches this past weekend, Ward unleashed 31 kills to help the ‘Dawgs earn the split and remain just two games out of a spot in the upcoming BIG EAST Tournament later this month.

🤔 BUTLER TRIVIA

Indiana native and Valpo transfer Saniya Jackson made her presence felt in her Butler debut in Monday’s season-opening win, racking up six steals on the defensive end of the court.

Who was the last Bulldog to tally 6+ steals in a game?
