🏀 FAMILY TIES

Maria Marchesano, a 2005 Butler alum who has led Purdue Fort Wayne to three consecutive 20-win seasons and postseason appearances, has been hired as the head coach of the Bulldogs' women's basketball program.

Marchesano's 14-year head coaching career includes 234 wins across stops at Purdue Fort Wayne (five seasons), Mount St. Mary's (four seasons), Walsh (three seasons), and Urbana (two seasons).

She will be introduced to the Butler community today with a noon event in the Wildman Room of Hinkle Fieldhouse. The event is open to both media and the public.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Sideline Additions. Coach Nored is filling up the sideline for his staff as the ‘Dawgs prepare to welcome a new era in men’s hoops.

Jalen Courtney-Williams and Emerson Kampen will both be assistant coaches for men’s hoops, while Matt Frederick arrives in Indianapolis to take on the Chief of Staff role.

🔼 Diamond Days. A near picture-perfect weekend on tap in Indianapolis sets up a perfect time to check out the ‘Dawgs on the diamond.

The Butler Baseball and Softball teams are set to host monster weekend series as the Huskies of UConn roll into town for three-game series with both programs.

For Butler Baseball, the ‘Dawgs will look to continue their hot streak and stay atop the BIG EAST Standings after sweeping Villanova last weekend. Butler has won five straight and seven of eight entering the three-game set. Game times are set for 3 pm on Friday, 2 pm on Saturday and 12 pm on Sunday.

On the softball diamond, Butler and UConn square off in a battle of two 9-3 teams in league play, just half-game back of the top spot in the standings. Game times are set for 3 pm on Friday, 1 pm on Saturday and 12 pm on Sunday.

🔼 Power Pair. What’s better than one weekly honor? How about two?

That’s what the Butler men’s golf duo of Logan Sutto and Leo Zurovac accomplished this week as the pair was named the BIG EAST Male Golfers of the Week.

Sutto and Zurovac tied for medalist honors at the 2026 Jewell Invitational, hosted by Northern Kentucky.  The Butler duo each finished at even-par, with a 213 total score for the 54-hole event.  It marks Sutto's first win of the 2025-26 campaign, while Zurovac's recorded his second consecutive victory for the Bulldogs.

🔼 Mastering His Craft. For the fifth time in his career, junior Cabott Craft earned BIG EAST Men’s Field Athlete of the Week.

Craft earned a second-place finish at this past weekend’s Pacesetter Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind. with a jump of 7.17 meters.

His recognition this week is the first time a Bulldog has received the weekly honor during the 2026 outdoor season.

🤔 BUTLER TRIVIA

Coach Marchesano was quite a sharpshooter during her time at Butler. How many 3-pointers did she knock down for the ‘Dawgs?
