Throughout the summer, we will be counting down the days
to the return of Butler Football this fall. The Bulldogs will
host Georgetown College on August 29 at 1 p.m.

The date: Oct. 24, 1981
The opponent: St. Joseph’s

In a high-flying shootout, Butler QB Curt Roy put together one of the finest performances the ‘Dawgs had ever seen, piling up 36️⃣4️⃣ yards through the air to become the first Butler QB to ever pass for 350+ yards in a single game.

Roy’s single-game passing record remained in tact until 1991 and still sits seventh all-time in program history.

That season, Roy was the team’s Most Valuable Offensive Player and two years later, he became th first QB in program history to lead Butler to a playoff berth in the 1983 NCAA playoffs.

🔼 Earning His Shot. After arriving at Butler last season and earning All-American accolades for the ‘Dawgs, Michael Ajayi will once again look to make some noise, but this time at the professional level.

On Thursday, Ajayi signed a two-way contract with the Charlotte Hornets.

Ajayi ranked fifth nationally in rebounding (11.1 per game) and fourth with 19 double-doubles on the season. In addition to leading the BIG EAST in rebounding, he was fourth in scoring (16.4 points per game) and also ranked among the conference's Top 15 in minutes played (third), field goal percentage (sixth), blocked shots (eighth), and assists (12^th). Ajayi's 356 rebounds this past year set a new Butler single-season record.

🔼 Mark Your Calendars. Next month, our very own Maria Marchesano will sit down and give some insightful lessons to the locacl crowd at Lagers & Leaders at The Hanger in Indianpolis.

Marchesano, a Butler alum, has taken over the reins of the Butler women’s hoops program and will sit down with attendees at a laid-back environment and give thoughts, advice and answer some leadership questions.
