🔼 Let The Games Begin. When the whistle blows tomorrow afternoon in Mount Pleasant, Mich., the 2025-26 Butler athletic calendar will officially be underway.
The women’s soccer squad is the first to get things under as the Bulldogs return 15 veterans under the leadership of co-head coaches Tari St. John and Rob Alman.
After finishing third in the BIG EAST standings last year, Butler returns to the pitch led by two-time All-BIG EAST First Team honoree Talia Sommer. Joining the team this season are sophomore transfer Chloe Brecht and an incoming group of eight freshman.
🔼 A Look At The Backers. Preseason All-PFL selection Jeremiah Jackson highlights a talented linebacker position group for the Bulldogs. Joining Jackson at the second level will be three-year starter Tyson Garrett and redshirt senior Brayton Spetter.
"This year's linebacker unit brings a great mixture of experience and youth," Defensive Coordinator and Linebacker Coach Jordan Belfiori explained. "We have a couple of older guys with a ton of game experience and some younger guys ready to make an impact in 2025."

🔼 Preseason Praise. While the games haven’t begun quite yet, a pair of Bulldog soccer standouts earned some preseason praise this week.
Seniors Talia Sommer and Amelie Darey were selected to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. In addition, the team was tabbed to finish fourth in the 2025 BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll.
Sommer, from Tel Aviv, Israel, is a two-time All-BIG EAST First Team selection and won second-team honors as well as Freshman of the Year in 2022. Last season, as a junior, she led the BIG EAST with 1.53 points per game (30th nationally), .58 goals per game (37th) and a .603 shot accuracy (25th), and she was second in the conference with 29 points (34th) and 11 goals (39th).
Darey, from Epson Surrey, England, was an All-BIG EAST Second Team honoree in 2024. As a junior, she started all 19 matches for the Bulldogs in the defensive line, finishing fourth on the team with 3 goals and 8 points.
⏱️ COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: 1️⃣7️⃣ DAYS

After bouncing back from an injury during his sophomore season with a monster junior year, #1️⃣7️⃣ Danny Orgler is back for one more run with the ‘Dawgs this fall.
In 2024, Orgler earned All-PFL Honorable Mention accolades after playing in all 12 games, finishing with 32 tackles, 11.5 TFLs and 3.5 sacks from his defensive line position.
