🔼 Nine Is Fine. In front of a raucous crowd at the Sellick Bowl, Butler Football rolled to an impressive 47-20 victory over Chicago State on Saturday afternoon. It marked the ‘Dawgs ninth consecutive homecoming victory.
Leading the way was Desmin Jackson, who was spectacular for Butler, rushing for a career-high 164 yards and a touchdown. Gabe Passini continued his strong start to the season, finishing 12-of-24 with 109 yards and three TDs, while adding 27 yards on the ground and another rushing TD.
Defensively, Tommy Diamond piled up 10 tackles and a pass breakup, while Steven Stephany wreaked havoc once again for the ‘Dawgs, blocking both a punt and an extra point.
🔼 Lock ‘Em In. With last week’s announcement of the BIG EAST schedule and one final nonconference game added to the slate, the Butler women’s hoops schedule for 2026-27 is locked in.
The ‘Dawgs are now just 42 days away from the official start of the Maria Marchesano era when Butler welcomes Tennessee Tech to Hinkle Fieldhouse on November 2nd.
🔼 Light It Up. The Butler women’s soccer provided their own style of fireworks to celebrate Homecoming weekend.
Beginning with three goals in the first 12:10 of the game, the ‘Dawgs rolled to a dominant 7-1 victory over Western Illinois on Saturday afternoon at Varsity Field.
Riley Gumm and Chloe Brecht each had a brace to lead the potent offensive attack. Gumm added an assist, leading all Bulldogs in points in what was the final non-conference contest of the regular season.
🔼 Running Wild. Butler men’s cross country got a bit of a preview of what’s to come on Saturday when it hit the trails at LaVern Gibson Championship Course for the John McNichols Invitational, which included 14 nationally-ranked teams.
The Bulldogs finished 10th overall in the 34-team field, besting several ranked teams in No. 12 Eastern Kentucky, No. 19 Harvard, No. 20 Georgia, No. 23 Air Force, No. 24 Cal Baptist, and No. 26 Louisville.
William Zegarski led the Butler squad with a 12th-place finish, covering the 8k course in a time of 24:00.7.
🔼 Zippin’ It Up. Earning points on the road is always important. Earning points on the road in conference play is even better.
That’s exactly what the Butler men’s soccer team did on Friday night, battling #6 Akron to a 0-0 draw in the BIG EAST opener for both squads.
Brooks Boersma had a strong showing in net, racking up eight saves on the night to pick up his second shutout of the season.
