🔼 Drive To Five. The Hoosier Helmet is staying in Indianapolis for the fifth straight season after a dramatic 33-28 road victory for Butler football over longtime rival Valparaiso on Saturday afternoon.
Gabe Passini and Nick Munson led the offensive attack that scored 16 points in the fourth quarter to help secure the victory. Munson had a career day, hauling in five catches for 114 yards and three TDs. Passini was a dual threat once again for the ‘Dawgs, tossing for 155 yars and rushing for 104 more.
🔼 Beck’s Boot. The right leg of junior Beck Janki proved quite critical for the Butler football program in Saturday’s win at Valpo. For his efforts, he was named the PFL Special Teams Player of the Week.
The Atlanta, Ga. native opened the scoring with a career-long 41-yard field goal on the Bulldogs' opening drive of the game. Janki also connected on a 40-yard field goal in the fourth quarter that helped extend Butler's lead. The junior also converted on all three PATs he attempted in the game.
🔼 How Sweep It Is. For the first time since joining the conference, the Butler volleyball program is 2-0 to start BIG EAST play after sweeping its two matches this weekend against Villanova (3-0) and Georgetown (3-1).
Chase Lemming and Raegan Durbin led the ‘Dawgs offensive attack, combining for 42 kills in the two matches, while Butler limited its opponents to a just a .106 hitting percentage on the weekend.
🔼 Hardware Haul. Luckily, the drive to Muncie isn’t too long because the Butler men’s golf team had some extra hardware on the ride back home.
Logan Sutto's medalist performance led the Bulldogs to a team title at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational. Butler claimed the 54-hole title by 16 strokes.
Sutto capped his weekend with a three-under 67 on Sunday, his best round of the weekend to give him a total of seven-under 203.
🔼 Just In Time. Nothing like a little drama to kick off BIG EAST action for the Butler women’s soccer team.
The ‘Dawgs used a goal from Gemma Gillespie with nine seconds on the clock to secure a crucial point in conference play with a 1-1 tie against Marquette.
Butler fired off four shots in the final five minutes, including the heroic header from Gillespie with as the clock was winding down.
